Article 1
The “Chinese Culture University Implementation Guidelines for Ethics Education Courses for Faculty Members and Research Project Participants” (“the present Guidelines”) are prescribed per the “Operation Guidelines for Ministry of Science and Technology Research Project Grants” to promote the understanding of academic ethics among faculty members and research project participants so as to meet self-discipline requirements of academic research.
Article 2
For the purpose of the present Guidelines, the terms faculty members and research project participants refer to actual participants of research projects in the capacities of coordinators, joint (collaborating) coordinators, fulltime/part-time research assistants, and postdoctoral researchers participating in Ministry of Science and Technology (MoST) research projects or projects receiving grants from other institution not affiliated with the University and attached with academic ethics education regulations.
Article 3
Of the capacities listed in the previous article, a project coordinator applying for a MoST project as a first-timer in doing so and research participants listed in such an application as first-timers in executing a MoST project shall submit, when filing the project application, relevant certificates of at least 6 hours of attendance in academic ethics course training in the preceding 3 years to the Office of Research and Development for future reference to be qualified for project application.
Any research participant (including faculty members and students not affiliated with the University) who is a first-timer in executing a MoST research project hired after the project is underway shall submit relevant certificates of 6 hours of attendance in academic ethics course training within 3 months of being hired.
Article 4
For projects receiving grants from other institutions not affiliated with the University and attached with academic ethics education regulations, said regulations shall be observed.
Article 5
For academic ethics education courses, faculty members and research participants may enroll in online courses available on the “Center for Taiwan Academic Research Ethics Education” platform or other academic ethics education trainings recognized by the corresponding project-funding institutions, take and pass any tests and obtain a certificate of course completion.
Article 6
Other matters which are not covered by the present Guidelines shall be handled according to applicable laws and regulations and relevant regulations of the University.
Article 7
The present Guidelines and any amendment thereto shall be implemented upon being adopted by the Academic Development Committee and the Administrative Council.
